Christensen Yachts was founded on Dave Christensen’s desire for a high quality, luxury yacht for his personal use. After retiring from a lifelong career in the construction industry, he quickly realised he was unable to find a shipyard that would produce a yacht to his standards, so instead he decided to build the yacht himself.
Partnering with Westport Shipyards, Christensen designed and constructed his dream yacht, and before the work was finished, he was inundated with offers for the vessel. After similar receptions from a second and third yacht, he soon realised the gap he could fill in the luxury yacht market.
In 1985, Christensen Yachts was established, and his team of skilled artisans, naval architects, innovative designers and talented craftsmen helped characterise the shipyard as one of the leading builders of superyachts in the industry.
TYPES OF YACHTS
The American shipyard produces a wide array of custom superyachts, but specialises in those ranging from 100 to 165 feet. From explorer yacht to sporty, sumptuous, contemporary designs – Christensen’s line of fully custom yachts cater to the individual needs and preferences of every client, allowing for a totally unique product every time.
FEATURES
All Christensen yachts are built with the finest composite materials, paired with a cutting-edge construction process. Using large-scale vacuum infusion, the yachts have a strength to weight ratio that is seven times stronger than steel and solid laminate, making strength and durability one of the shipyard’s defining traits.
Their yachts also feature insulated hulls and foam-cored structures to reduce noise transmission and vibration, and maximise the comfort of guests on board. With fibreglass superstructures and high quality upholstery, Christensen yachts offer the height of luxury and performance.
NOTABLE YACHTS
Each and every Christensen yacht promises exceptional craftsmanship, innovative design and ground-breaking performance. Motor yacht CHASSEUR is particularly noteworthy, having received an award at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in 2017 for the ‘Best Power Design 40-65m’.
