Embark at Falmouth Harbour on the north west side of the western island. Cruise from here to Guadaloupe and find a sheltered anchorage of choice, where you can enjoy views of the surrounding mountains, lush rain forests and vibrant towns. This is a great area for snorkeling with colourful underwater life amidst crystalline waters. Guadeloupe’s two main islands form the shape of butterfly wings, joined only by bridges and a mangrove swamp. Grand Terre has fabulous beaches teaming with activities and Basse Terre is home to the Parc National, boasting the incredible La Soufriere volcano. Overnight at Deshais Harbour.

In the morning, make way to Isles des Saint’s, a group of islands on the southern end of Guadeloupe with a choice of 2 main anchorages. There is Bourg des Saints on the main island in front of the town and shops, or alternatively, Islet a Cabrit offers a quieter, sheltered anchorage on one of the smaller islands. Both are great places to really enjoy some relaxation while you swim and snorkel the day away.

Prince Rupert’s Bay is a large natural harbour, set on the northwestern part of the island. It is a great idea to book an organized, guided boat tour up the Indian River surrounded by the rainforest teeming with wildlife. In addition, there is a large town to explore, some great places to snorkel and taking time to simply soak up the atmosphere.

After breakfast, head to Fort de France for customs clearance then locate a suitable anchorage across from the harbor, near the beach at Anse a L’ane (there is a good choice of places). There are picturesque towns and swathes of velvet beaches ashore. Snorkeling is very good on the outer reefs thanks to the wonderful marine flora and fauna biodiversity.

Make way to Marigot Bay and enjoy the sheer tranquility of this beautiful St Lucia yacht charter location. If you head ashore there are some outstanding seafood restaurants or perhaps visit the dive centre at Marigot Beach Club for a fantastic underwater adventure. After lunch, nearby Soufriere, is small town scattered with brightly painted buildings and a bustling seafront. Home to the Diamond Botanical Gardens, this former plantation is bursting with ornamental plants, a waterfall plus geothermal mineral baths. Further inland the cascading Toraille Waterfall is an amazing sight. Anchor overnight near the famous Pitons, which are spectacular volcanic mountain twin peaks.

Take time to soak up the scenery and explore the Pitons, this world heritage site offers some fantastic walks plus a range of superb diving and snorkeling. Gros Piton, the loftier of the two peaks is climbable for keen hikers and truly affords an ultimate vantage point to view the island. Alternatively, if you are feeling adventurous, a trip by island buggy, a Segway tour or rainforest ziplining can be great fun and will likely cover areas you would not otherwise see. Make way in the evening to Vieux Fort and spend the night in harbour.

Situated at the southern end of the island, enjoy the approaching view of mountain ranges and long white sandy beaches plus this area is great for wind and kitesurfing should the mood take you. Perhaps head ashore to Moule a Chique, scenic point, to take advantage of the 360 vistas from this high point. Cruise round to Anse des Sables Beach and drop anchor to enjoy lunch. Disembark at your leisure – Hewanorra International Airport is nearby.
