Olbia is a port city on the northeast coast of Sardinia, Italy. It is one of the most popular destinations in Italy for luxury yacht charters. Olbia has a wide variety of things to do and is perfect for those who are looking to explore Corsica, the Mediterranean, or even enjoy a luxurious motor yacht experience.
Acting as the northwestern gateway to the emerald coast of Sardinia, we explore what to do in Olbia and our favourite places to visit. The ancient city of Olbia welcomes visitors with a palm-strewn waterfront, bustling cafe culture and highly sought-after beaches. World famous celebs flock here for boutique shopping, delicious restaurants and fun nightlife.
Winding lanes leading from Corso Umberto reveal unassuming, family-run restaurants to enjoy delicious traditional food and local wines as you watch the world go by; indeed the charm of Olbia undoubtedly lies in its laidback piazza’s and the ritual evening passeggiata. Visit the superb archaeological museum, set on its own little fortified island, to discover the full story of early Greek settlers and the subsequent rich history of Olbia, then wander the back streets and find the Pisan-style basilica of San Simplicio which is well worth a visit.
The sheltered bay of Costa Corallina provides great anchorage for luxury yacht charters in Olbia, opposite the quiet stretch beach with crystalline, shallow waters: this is a top spot for kayaking and snorkelling. Alternatively, for some good windsurfing grounds, make for the long stretch of reddish sands on Spiaggia della Saline, lying between the sea and salt flats, populated by elegant flamingos.
