Amid yet another incredible Monaco Yacht Show, a few of the latest yacht toys and accessories were raising eyebrows with their designs and bold approach to elevating the luxury yachting lifestyle.
If you were in Monaco for this year’s yacht show, you most likely saw the Ocean Independence Roughneck 35 tender zipping across the Port Hercule bay, chauffeuring Clients to view yachts at anchor. Making each journey unforgettable, this high-performance RIB boasts twin 450 hp Mercury outboards, accelerating to 135 km/h (73 knots) without breaking a sweat.
Standing as the perfect superyacht chase boat, the double stepped hull promises stability and fuel efficiency at such impressive speeds. And for those prioritising comfort, the cabin version is a game changer, ensuring guest’s transition from yacht to shore is protected from unpredictable weather.
If you have ever walked around the Monaco Yacht Show, you’ll know the feeling of being surrounded by endless corporate stands draped in brand colours, showcasing products in every niche the yachting industry has to offer. But a breath of fresh air at this year’s show was the ’67 by Charge Cars.
A solitary car parked on Quai Antoine I, no stand, no army of salespeople. Just one car letting its gorgeous 60s American muscle styling do all the talking, and one representative, who assured me this is not an original chassis with the V8 removed, but in fact a brand new car.
The ’67 by Charge Cars may pay homage to the styling of a Sixties fastback, but underneath it is a state-of-the-art electric car. It is intended for modern driving dynamics, and to that end boasts a 200-mile range and a 0-60 time of 3.9 seconds.
Limited to 499 examples, the ’67 is a true collector’s item. Hand-built in London, each one is completely bespoke and personalised to their owner’s taste with colours, materials, and details all customisable.
U Boat Worx are a company well established when it comes to designing class leading submarines for superyachts – the NEMO 2 on board 45m MILELE for example. Their latest model was unveiled in Monaco and is called the Super Sub.
It without doubt sets a new benchmark for submersibles with the hydrodynamic long tail and advanced wing design providing unmatched manoeuvrability. And to match this agility, a formidable propulsion system pushes the sub to a swift 10 knots – surpassing the bottlenose dolphin by around four knots and an average submersible by as much as seven.
Three passengers can seamlessly dive beside large sea life to depths of 300 metres and watch it all through a crystal-clear acrylic hull. Positioned for maximum visibility, this hull promises an immersive, unobstructed view. Topping it off, the SHARC Controller, in harmony with innovative hydrofoils, and bespoke race seats allows for precise, agile turns and banks up to 45 degrees.
Showcased with a static display on Quai Antoine I, the AgustaWestland 109 GrandNew was generating quite the buzz at this year’s yacht show. Redefining airborne luxury, the AW109’s streamlined shape and luxurious interior offer unparalleled elegance for fast ship-to-shore transport.
Featuring a configurable four to six-seat layout, wide sliding doors, and electrically retractable steps, smooth boarding is guaranteed, while an expansive baggage compartment means taking enough luggage for an extended cruise is no issue.
Beyond aesthetics, the helicopter boasts an advanced glass cockpit and a four-axis digital autopilot – enhancing pilot efficiency and heightening passenger safety for effortless touch-and-go operations on superyachts and manoeuvring in crowded city centres.
Mimicking the grace of marine mammals, E-Dolphin’s electric jet skis present the beginning of a new era in aquatic recreation. The result of six diligent years of R&D, their jet skis present a harmonious blend of performance and sustainability. The S300, their flagship model, stands out with three ergonomic seats and an unrivalled DC charge capability—going from 20% to 80% in just 45 minutes. With a top speed of 90 km/h backed by a 160 hp engine, riders can enjoy up to two hours of fast, smooth, and silent cruising. Beyond speed, it prioritises sustainability, featuring high-density recyclable batteries for the discerning superyacht owner with a heart for the planet.
And last, but in our opinion certainly not least, our Ocean Independence Yacht Toys. If you attended the Monaco Yacht Show, you may have spotted us handing out these little mementoes from our stands. Small and cute, they were a hit with kids (and the big kids) who simply couldn’t resist taking “their first superyacht” home. Whether it’s a fun toy to entertain the little ones in the bath, or a funny gimmick in your on-deck Jacuzzi, we find these little gifts bring joy to both parents and children at all the yacht shows we attend. We hope you managed to pick one up, but if you missed out make sure to stop by our stand at the Monaco Yacht Show 2024 or at any of the other major yacht shows we will be attending.
