CBSE New Syllabus - Changes

The new changes introduced in the exam pattern and syllabus are proposed to be completely in place by 2023. These changes aim to enhance the creative, analytical, critical, and innovative thinking of the students appearing for the board exams.

Let’s look at some of the changes that have been introduced into the syllabus for 2022-2023.

There have been no changes in the syllabus for:

  • Accountancy

  • Business Studies 

  • English Core

  • Economics

  • Geography

  • History 

  • Mathematics

A new elective subject Applied Mathematics has been added to Group A.


Class 12 - Changes in the CBSE Syllabus

Class 12 Biology

  • A supplementary read titled ‘ Biology Supplementary Material’ has been added.

  • Theory change: The term ‘ sacred groves’ has been added in Chapter-15.

Class 12 Physics

Theory - No changes

Practicals

  • The number of practicals is now 6 while earlier it was 5.

  • The following practicals have been removed:

  1. Ascertaining the wavelength of a laser beam by diffraction.

  2. To apprehend the principles of AND, OR, and NOT gates. Making their equivalent circuits utilizing a bell and cells or battery.

Class 12 Chemistry

Theory

  • The new chapter ‘Solid State’ has been added as Unit-1 and the sequence of units has also been revised.

  • Group-15 elements added to Chapter-7. The number of periods changed to 12 from 14.

  • Additions made to Unit 5- Polymers: Classification-synthetic and natural methods, methods of polymerization.

  • The name of Unit-13 changed to ‘Amines’. Topics of cyanides and isocyanides removed.

Practicals

The total number of practicals will be 60 and the following practicals have been removed from the syllabus of CBSE for Chemistry:

  • Study of the effect of different temperatures on the activity of salivary amylase.

  • Study of the presence of suspended particulate matter in the air at 2 different sites.

  • Changes in Qualitative Analysis: CO₂⁺and NO₃ added. As₃⁺ removed.
